Elective studio : Antifragile Housing
Instructor : Andreas Tjeldflaat
PARTNER : Joyce Jin
Fall 2018
This objective of this elective studio was to create a modular system that accomodates housing in the year 2050, united by a theme and a program - health. The Highline Health Center utilizes layering of various densities to accomodate organic spaces that serve as areas of physical and mental health rehabilitation, ranging from a gym to an individual meditation cell to a garden. Orthogonal modules serve as blocks with four-six individual rooms united by a common area and a restroom. The feel of an old-world sanatorium is brought to the New York landscape through a temporary asylum for those who seek a break from an unhealthy city routine - both mentally and physically.
